After School Band Program — Information for Musicians and Parents
Welcome to our 12th year of After-School Band!
We plan to have 40 band classes meeting weekly throughout the 27 elementary schools. Because of the successful fundraising last year, we have granted funds to FUSD to pay for 25 weeks of instruction. Band classes will be begin in mid-October and end in May.
Band Orientation Night
Each year, new band students and parents, attend one of the Band Orientation Nights. Instructors will discuss class requirements & rules, demonstrate instruments, and answer questions. (See Band Registration information.)
Everyone Loves a Parade!
Students in the After-School Bands are invited to participate in community parades during the year. Over 40 students marched in the Festival of Lights Parade in Niles last November. Check our parades page to learn about this year’s parade, scheduled for Friday, November 26th. Watch there for upcoming information on the Summer Parades, including Fremont’s 4th of July Parade.

After-School Band T-shirts
Students & parents alike can look great in the After-School Band t-shirts designed by Keith Westra. The shirts will be a different color this year, with the designs on both the front and back. Students are encouraged to wear their shirt to class and special events, like the parades.
Class Policies
Parents and students are required to download the After School Band Policies document, read it, sign it and return it to the band instructor at the first day of band class. Download Policies
Band Instructor websites
Some of our band directors keep web sites to keep you informed of class activities.
Student Photo Day
Band students come one Sunday during the year to get their professional photo taken, and go home with their prints that same day. Great memories and gifts for relatives. Learn more about Photo Day.
