| Innovative Education Grants
The Innovative
Education Grants program was the first program sponsored by the
Fremont Education Foundation, founded in 1991. These grants fund
innovative, quality classroom programs in grades K-12 and are aimed
at increasing student academic achievement, creativity, leadership,
critical thinking, physical fitness and health, skills in diversity
and conflict resolution, and experiences in the visual and
performing arts. Individual grants are awarded for amounts up to
$3,000.
Grant applications for the
2008-2009 school year are now available!
Over the past 16 years, 135
teacher grants have been
awarded to directly benefit over 16,845 students.

Science Grants
The Fremont
Education Foundation is pleased to announce that it has funded
$24,255 worth of science lab equipment to 32 FUSD schools. This is
in addition to the traditional Innovative Education Grants that were
funded for the 2006-2007 academic year. Thanks to
all the FEF donors whose
generosity made these grants possible, and thanks to all the
teachers who applied because they so clearly want to enhance the
educational experience for their students.
Science teachers
from 32 schools applied for the funds, for a total requested amount
of $60K. The list of
requested equipment and supplies included fossils, scales, models,
plants, balances, slides, cylinders, specimens, projectors,
microscopes, and laptops. Unfortunately, we
were unable to fully fund all these worthy requests. Since many of
the schools were requesting multiples pieces of equipment and
supplies, and the majority of the requests were for basic lab
equipment, we decided to distribute the money across all the
requesting schools as equitably as possible. To this end, we
allocated funds to all applicant schools, with most schools
receiving $750. In some cases, slightly more or less would fully
fund one or more pieces of requested equipment, so the amount funded
is slightly above or below $750.
These
schools received science equipment funding.
Please be assured that we are still seeking matching
funds from other sources.
